The American Sidesaddle Association offers photo critiquing and video critiquing services. ASA members who have ridden and taught sidesaddle will critique photos and videos for rider's ability/correctness, correct tack and proper turnout. If you don't have a sidesaddle instructor in your area or would like another opinion, this is a great option.

Photo Guidelines

Rider critique

• Submit a photo taken from the side. If you submit an off-side shot, the critiquers cannot comment on leg position (unless you are riding in an off-side saddle).
• Photo size: 3 x 5 to 8 x 10 photos are accepted.
• Emailed photos are preferred. If you submit a hard-copy photo, it will not be returned.
• Submit a reasonably well-focused photo with a clean background.
• If you are submitting a professional shot, you will need to submit written approval by the professional for the photo to be published on the website or in the newsletter's photo critique section.
• Schooling photos are allowed. If an apron is worn, the critiquer cannot comment on leg position.
• Submit the following information along with the photo: Rider's name, horse's name, rider's age, horse's age, breed and type of class or competition the rider and horse participate in.
• If the rider is in show attire, the critiquer cannot evaluate leg position but can evaluate show attire.
• Photos in which the riders are not wearing a boot with a heel and a helmet will not be evaluated with the exception of western photos or period attire.

Saddle/equipment photos

• Submit a photo taken from the side.
• Photo size: 3 x 5 to 8 x 10 photos are accepted.
